The groups itself consists of people who play a variety of electronic musical instruments--including electric guitar equipped with a TransPerformance tuning system, Akai EWI's and EVI's, electric basses, keyboards, etc. Instruments also include other computers, such as a laptop running Kontakt, Logic Pro, Cakewalk, Sonar or Ableton Live. [footnote: at this point, instruments must be electric, i.e., incapable of microphonic bleed, in order to maintain track separation. This allows everyone to have greater control over the music after the recording session.]

Our goal is to explore new musical territory, with as many people going along for the ride as possible. Picture a typical musical performance as a journey a composer takes a listener on. Using that metaphor, Throng is more like a joyride around the cosmos--even we don't really know what we're going to find, but we know it's going to be beautiful, and we want as many people to accompany us as possible. Most people, when hearing our music for the first time, closely associate it with 'movie music.' Sometimes the music contains enough non-musical elements for people to hear it as a movie soundtrack. However, we acknowledge the grain of truth in Frank Zappa's famous "talking about music is like dancing about architecture" comment, and we therefore invite you to listen to our music yourself and draw your own conclusions.
"^^xsd:string
