"
Vulcan Mindmeld was formed in May of 2006 by members of Thenoras, Clint Kliewer (originally guitar and vocals) and Corey Cook (bass). When their drummer stopped showing up, Clint switched to drums, and thus, Vulcan Mindmeld was born. The songs were short as hell, and generally changed greatly with each rehearsal, with the guys forgetting riffs and song orders completely. They had a handful of shows booked for August of that year, with no substantial set material, so they had to buckle down and write some stuff! They turned a few of their riffs into a random mish mash of songs ranging from slow and melodic to fast and chaotic. Chunks from completely opposite song ideas were often blended together into 2 minutes of madness. Meanwhile Clint would usually repeat one cryptic line sporatically throughout the song.

By the time August rolled around, they had a half a dozen songs down, and Clint had a bit of method to his madness in the vocal/lyrical area. After the four August shows, Clint stripped down him drum set to just a snare, 2 bass drums, 2 cymbals and no toms. On the other hand, Corey added the vocal PA to his bass setup. With the vocals and only stringed instrument coming out of the same cabinet, it is nearly impossible to understand what Clint is yelling except at intervals when everything suddenly stops. But even then, there is delay on his voice which makes it very difficult to comprehend.

Personality wise the members are polar opposites. Corey is a huge risk taker, always getting himself into trouble and doing anything for a buck, whereas Clint is relatively reserved and stoic. On stage however, the roles are reversed, with Clint being the only one with a micophone; sometimes talking to the audience between songs in order to catch his breath. Corey is forbidden a microphone due to the fear that he’ll say something completely idiotic and get the group into trouble, though he can occasionally be heard yelling stuff at the end of the set.

When it comes down to it, Vulcan Mindmeld is one weird group featuring 2 strange guys in a very awkward line-up.
"^^xsd:string
