" English version: My name is Jaroslaw Gumowski and I live in the North West part of Poland, in Szczecin near the German boarder. From the beginning of the 90s I have been composing music (initially under the pseudonym OBCY – (Stranger), currently under my own name) using an Amiga PC. To be honest, before that time I had written some heavy-metal guitar pieces in a school band and composed drum lines on my Commdore 64 mostly for practice’ sake. But only thanks to Amiga and Atari ST it became possible in those times to write, low cost, miscellaneously sounding music. It is difficult for me to classify what I do, even more so as the reviews I have read differed substantially in their opinions. Some would say that ‘my music cannot be strictly classified’, others would label it as ‘modern electronics’ but there were also ones who admitted that ‘it is, without a doubt, best quality staff, still it’s a bit old-fashioned’. I suppose it is best to describe it using a broad term: ‘Electronic’. From 1994, I had been active on the Amiga-scene for a short time and won a few Polish music and demo competitions (e.g.: Primavera Party 1994, Digital Art 1.5 in 1996). Three years later I began to freelance for a film studio where I composed pieces for documents on public TV. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, this did not last long. For the next few years I had been composing only for myself and my friends, not sharing it with any other audience nor taking part in competitions, etc. Near the end of 2005 I decided to change that and after receiving a warm welcome in western press (Future Music, issue 168/winter 2005, Computer Music, issue 93/winter 2005) the time has come to put my pieces on this site. I hope that my music will bring you at least a little bit of pleasure not only as a result of listening to it but also that it will stimulate your imagination taking you, at least for a while, into some new, ‘Strange’ worlds. As far as I’m concerned, I am open to any offers which will help me do what I can do best, namely compose music for films or video games ( I still enjoy playing) instead of images created only in my imagination. Enjoy listening ! "^^xsd:string
